SJ Art Contest Winners Announced!
Saturday, March 01, 2008
It was a tough race, but here are the winners for the Fan Art Contest!

GRAND PRIZE WINNER!
Bridgette McKenna

1. How old are you and how long have you been an artist?
I've been an artist my whole life, as long as I can remember. Now, 21 years later, I'm in my third year of my Bachelors working towards being a professional artist as well as an art teacher ^_^

2. Why did you choose this form of media for your contest entry?
I've always loved detailed drawings, and it has been my focus as long as I've been interested in art. Printmaking allows me to create these detailed time-consuming drawings with etched metal plates, but also allows to me reuse the plates to create the same image as many times as I wish. I love this because I get to play with color!

3. What is your favorite form of art to create?
I love drawing portraits with charcoal. It allows me to mimic the soft features of the face and I do my best to capture human emotions.

4. Do you have any favorite artists?
I've always been partial to Da Vinci's charcoal drawings of people, and Monet's paintings. My favorite living artist is Amy Brown. I love the little faeries.

5. Is there anywhere online that people can see some other work of yours?
I'm in the process of creating a better website than the one I have now. Until then, I'll most likely create of folder here on Myspace of my latest work. I'm working on a long series of portraits of artists- both fine artists and performing artists, so you can count on more Stealing Jane pieces ;)

1st Runner Up - Danielle Gauvin

1. How old are you and how long have you been an artist?
I am 28 years old now, and I believe I have been an artist since I was about 3 years old, with my first drawing being a small owl on a piece of wood, drawn with a carpenters pencil.

2. Why did you choose this form of media for your contest entry?
I chose the form of drawing in pen ink and colored pencil because that is my specialty, the one I do most, and tends to turn out best. I chose the pen ink because it was dark and shows all the detail, and then the colored pencil because it was the only thing I had to closely resemble the colors of the actual design on your website.

3. What is your favorite form of art to create?
I would have to say it is a three way tie between crocheting, drawing in pen and pencil, or watercolor.

4. Do you have any favorite artists?
Favorite artists would have to be a professional wrestler Jeff Hardy, (he draws in his spare time between traveling from country to country in WWE) and his work is mostly abstract. I also enjoy Picaso, Monet, and Leonardo DaVinci, with his amazing technical drawings. Another favorite would be Michelangelo

5. Is there anywhere online that people can see some other work of yours?

1. How old are you and how long have you been an artist?
I am 22 years old. Ive been an artist for as long as I remember, probably most of my life.

2. Why did you choose this form of media for your contest entry?
I have to say that I really didn't choose it, it sort of chose me. I was having a bad the day I did the drawing and just grabbed my graphite pencils and started drawing. The next thing I know I had drawn Tully and Pat!

3. What is your favorite form of art to create?
I love to draw and paint, but my favorite form of art to create is graphic design. Graphic Design is actually my career choice which I'm currently try to break into.

4. Do you have any favorite artists?
My favorite artist is Monet.

5. Is there anywhere online that people can see some other work of yours?
Yes, there is a place online where people can check out my artworks. I have a website at:
